About
A directory of scrap haulers, kept honest by the people who call them
We list companies that will come and take your scrap metal away. Every entry is submitted or corrected by someone who has actually dealt with them, then checked by us before it goes live.
Why this exists
Try to find someone to haul a dead water heater out of your yard. You will get three kinds of result: national aggregators with phone numbers that stopped working years ago, SEO pages built to rank rather than to help, and scrap yards that only take drop-offs and won't come to you at all.
The actual haulers — the ones with two trucks and a route — are mostly invisible. They're small, local, and have no marketing budget. They are genuinely hard to find, and no central company has ever had a good reason to track them all.
So we don't try to track them centrally. The people who use these services know who they are, and they tell us.

How a listing earns its place
Crowdsourcing only works if there's a gate. Here's ours.
- Step 1
Automated pre-checks
Every submission is checked before a human sees it: the phone number has to be valid, the address has to geocode, the website has to resolve, and the text is scanned for spam.
- Step 2
A person reviews it
A moderator confirms the company actually offers pickup — not just a yard taking drop-offs — and looks for duplicates of listings we already have.
- Step 3
The community rates it
Once live, people who used the hauler leave reviews. Three reviews are needed before we show a star average at all, so a single opinion can't set a company's reputation.
- Step 4
It gets re-checked
Listings that haven't been verified in a year are flagged on the page itself, and we surface them as quick verification tasks. Anyone can report information that's wrong.
What you should know about us
We pay contributors
Adding a company earns 100 points ($1) once it's approved and has stood for 30 days. Reviews earn less, deliberately — we would rather pay for coverage than for opinions. Any review written in exchange for points is labeled Incentivized where it appears, and the reward is identical whether the review is glowing or scathing. How earning works.
Some listings are sponsored
Businesses can pay to appear at the top of results. When they do, the card is labeled Sponsored, and no more than two appear on a page. Paying does not affect a company's star rating, its reviews, or whether it can be listed at all — and we don't remove negative reviews for anyone, paying or not.
We don't book jobs or take a cut
You call the hauler directly and deal with them directly. We're not party to the arrangement, we don't handle payment, and we don't guarantee anyone's work. What we can tell you is what other people said happened when they called.
If this is your business
Listings are created by members of the public, which means yours may be here without you having put it there. That's deliberate — a directory that only lists companies who opted in isn't much use to someone trying to find a hauler. But it comes with obligations on us.
- Claim it and you control the information — hours, services, phone number, photos.
- Correct it at any time, claimed or not, and we'll review the change.
- Ask for removal and we'll take it down. You don't have to justify it.
- Respond to reviews publicly once you've claimed the listing. We won't delete a review for being negative, but we will remove ones that break our rules.
Why it matters where the metal goes
Steel and aluminium are among the few materials that recycle essentially forever without losing their properties. A ton of recycled steel spares roughly 2,500 lbs of iron ore from being mined, and recycling aluminium takes a small fraction of the energy needed to smelt it from bauxite. The appliance in your yard is not waste — it's feedstock that someone will pay to collect.
Making haulers easier to find means more of it gets collected and less of it ends up buried. That's the part of this we actually care about.
Help us cover the country
The directory is only as good as its coverage, and coverage comes from people who know their local scrap scene.
